Living Without Unified Communications – Can SMBs do it?

Within the “current economic climate” we are trying to collectively, as a nation (perhaps world?), save the pennies as Mitel’s Don Smith identifies. Within the business world the paramount concern is how to minimise costs whilst not being detrimental to its ROI. SIS International Research, on behalf of Siemens, have produced a global study that suggests there is an obvious need in the SMB space for a sophisticated communications platform.

The report suggests that 70% of SMB respondents said they have spent 17.5 hours each week addressing the pain points caused by communications barriers and latencies. However, the study also reported that 60% of respondents currently do not employ unified communications.

While SMB awareness of Unified Communications as a solution is rising, the research indicated that nearly 60 percent of SMBs do not currently employ one. With benefits of implementing Unified Communications including increased productivity, easy configuration and increased ROI; can the SMB afford not to do it?
